Normally I recommend the use of a water taxi one or both ways HOWEVER, for a strong group willing to move camp daily, this is not necessary.
This journey has so many variables that more than a broad outline would be inappropriate. As with all trips operated through SWCK, we camp on small islands or on mainland sites that are known only to us. Two of my favorite secret camp sites on the whole coast, are hidden away in this region.
The adventure can incorporate some outside coastal rock gardens (conditions permitting) inner sheltered water ways, bays and lagoon-like areas that power boats cannot negotiate and of course pristine forest. This is the most commonly guided are of operation due to predominant weather/wind patterns, proximity to Sitka and stunning scenery. Excellent fishing and foraging opportunities abound.
Goddard Hot Spring is an added bonus best enjoyed at trips end provided if we have pre-booked a water taxi shuttle out. If we are entirely human powered, accessing the hot springs at the mid-point of the adventure provides a luxuriant respite. A private camp a mere 15-minute paddle from the springs assures our privacy. The hot spring, due to its proximity to Sitka, often has other local groups there who arrive by power boat.
Prices are based on the number of persons in your group multiplied by the length your trip. The larger your group, the greater the per person discount.
