Route: Myriad Islands
Duration: 8 days / 7 nights
This destination is the kind of paddlers fantasy you can hardly believe exists. Hundreds of islands draped in luxuriant growth create sheltered waters along the outermost coast of Alaska. Pure and startlingly clear water; cobble, gravel and sand beaches, ready fresh water, and stunning camp sites create an experience that make this location among the most remarkable paddler- friendly sites in the world.
Scattered along the outer coast of Chichagof Island, located roughly 50 miles north of Sitka these gems provide a remote feast of scenic delights. Whether your goal is wild and stunning Alaskan scenery, epic wildlife encounters or pristine camping locations all combined with one of the finest paddling environments you will ever find, the Myriad Islands have it all.
Other aspects of this trip include tide rushes in some of the inner bays (If you choose to explore them), pristine mainland forests, rich natural and cultural history, excellent fishing and foraging and possible access to hot springs … A rare combination of adventure!
This 8-day/7-night trip requires round-trip water-taxi service out of Sitka. Reservations need to be made well in advance to secure reliable transportation to and from the Islands. The water taxi run is just over an hour and prices vary depending on numbers, but run around $1200 for 4 people each way. Additional persons increase the cost marginally.
It is strongly suggested that participants plan on at least 2 layover nights in the Myriad Islands as exploring the multitude of islets and passes is one of the great aspects of this trip. This can be best enjoyed without the added logistics of breaking and setting camp which always decreases free-time by several hours.
There is a 6-person maximum on this trip unless arranged with Michael personally well in advance of the trip departure date.
Prices are based on the number of persons in your group multiplied by the length your trip. The larger your group, the greater the per person discount.
